Behind the scenes on artist jon rafmans Sticky Drama

I designed the make-up / hair for this promo for Amateur Best, Effie the director gave me a moodboard and then pretty much free reign to create the look keeping in mind each character had to have a dark and light side. As the peice is all about movement I wanted to use make-up elements that were simple ( as it was a tight shoot) and worked with movement and also gave a unusual slightly otherworldly effect. For the light character the girls have a sequin triangle joining their brows to give them an etherial look that caught the light when they moved.

For the darker side, I need a motif that would signify the change in character and something i could do quickly as time was of the essence so I used some Paperself eyelashes (www.paperself.com) in Lace Garden as they were beautiful and intricate and gave a ‘strong’ look rather than pretty.

The final character- Nemesis I kept with the lashes and gave her a stronger brow and lip to 

For the artist ( Joe)- I gave him a very subtle differentiantion between dark and light. For the dark Joe had a Prison style tattoo under his eye which I did freehand using Illustrator and for the light side we shaved off his beard giving him a more babyface look.

Hair wise- I’d planned on wigs for the girls but it was too hot on the shoot and we decided to do messy twists instead , apart from Lucy who had hair down and on the final look ( Nemesis) we plaited it into a crown.

Glossy eye look was created using Mac cosmetics powder shadow in Electric blue , to give the gloss effect I used Vaseline over the top to add shine ( see mid make-up look above). The rest of the make-up was quite neutral.
